Birthday Party Ideas

Little kids often look forward to their birthdays for weeks or months. Turning five years old is a big accomplishment and often means heading off to school and making lots of new friends. Throwing a birthday party for your five-year-old can be a fun, yet exhausting endeavor, but it can be done, even on a tight budget.

Themed parties for five year olds often center on their favorite characters. They want everything including plates, napkins and cups emblazoned with their favorite characters. Ben 10, Winnie the Pooh, Disney Princesses, Dora and SpongeBob Squarepants are all considered to be top of the line themes. You can find cups, forks, plates and table covers for whatever character that your little one desires.

The Wizards of Waverly Place is a popular show for tweens. You can get everything from invitations and treat sacks to photo holders and magnets that are within the Wizards theme. There are even Wizards of Waverly Place party games and temporary tattoos, along with ID tags, danglers and centerpieces.

Tween girls are often head over heels for the Jonas Brothers. If that’s the case for your “tweenager,” then you can find everything from invitations, plates, cups and napkins with the trio emblazoned across them. Same goes for a Hannah Montana theme.

Boys of all ages like comic book heroes. Marvel Heroes include Spiderman and Wolverine. Madagascar is another favorite. Get decorations and party favors that have Gloria, Alex and the rest of the gang prominently displayed. Stickers and blow-out noisemakers make great party favors.

The decorations for your child’s birthday party are just as important as the cake. Plenty of streamers and confetti will make the occasion seem even more festive. And what kid doesn’t like bubbles? A refillable bubble machine is sure to add excitement to a party. All you have to do is get more bubble juice and you can use it over and over again.

Party favors are another important item. Kids love the little toys they bring home from parties. Coloring books, little harmonicas and kid’s rings are solid choices that will amuse kids. Small balloons in the shapes of rockets or flying saucers are also fun choices for party favors.

Most kids love practical jokes. Why not fill treat bags with disappearing ink or fake doggie doo? Items like fake food and whoopee cushions are usually big hits with kids as well, along with fart joke books and big plastic sunglasses. Holographic sunglasses or lollipops that turn their mouths bright blue are even more options. For older kids, try slipping them some fake chewed gum or even some hot toothpicks.

Instead of rushing around before the party trying to get everything that is on your list, it might be a better idea to order online. You can get the same great supplies that you would get in a “bricks and mortar” store, but it can be a lot more convenient to shop online. Many parents find it a lot easier to do so.
